Mapping Cultural Diversity through Personal Networks

Towards a structure-culture complex

Understanding the reach of culture into our personal environments and the ways in which we relate to others are crucial for cross-cultural connections in an increasingly tightly knitted world. The analysis of the “cultural signature” in the personal networks in various countries will inform about structural aspects of culture on an individual level. The new overarching concept of culture diversity and structural characteristics of human relations offer new perspectives across various social disciplines. This extends also to global social challenges, such as fostering more integrative societies and setting the structural foundations for integrating new members of society from other cultural backgrounds.
This project tackles the challenge of conceptualizing cultural diversity worldwide from a structural perspective, bridging the gap between culture and structure and seeking a new overarching concept.
